What does a support worker do? The day-to-day job of a support worker is full of variety. It is built around the needs of the person you are supporting. It can include helping them to carry out daily tasks like: Personal care (showering, grooming and dressing) Medication administration Meal preparation Transport Purchases Record keeping and reporting

It can also include supporting a person to stay connected with their friends, family and the community, learn new skills, or pursue their personal interests and hobbies. Anglicare Tasmania is seeking permanent part-time Disability Support Worker Trainees to work with Acquired Injury Community Support clients in Smithton

Anglicare provides innovative, flexible, person centred support to people living with an acquired injury. The Acquired Injury Support Service team are looking for people with a genuine desire to provide the best quality care for people with acquired injuries. This role will suit people who are interested in developing a new career by taking up a traineeship position. They also seek people who are eager to learn and are motivated to work by the common values of hope, compassion, justice and respect. How does the traineeship work? If you are offered a traineeship you will be enrolled in the Certificate III Individual Support (Disability) course. You will be provided with guidance and support to complete the requirements of your qualification, including 120 hours of work placement. As this is a hands on role, it is most suitable for active individuals who can perform manual handling duties. The Traineeship role is permanent part time position and workers must be willing and available to work a variety of shifts over a 24 hour period if required. A copy of the Full Position Description

All Anglicare employees must have the following or willingness to get: Australian Residency status or valid Australian working rights A current provisional or full Australian Driver's Licence and an insured, reliable motor vehicle A current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration A National Police Check (Working with Vulnerable Peoples)

IMPORTANT

Successful applicants are required to have an Anglicare Tasmania assessed medical before commencement. On commencement successful applicants will be required to undertake our structured Safeguarding Children Training program.
