We provide client-centred support for at-risk youth & participants with a disability.Location: MareebaPositions Available: Disability Support Workers on a casual basis (Experience required)As a Disability Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing support services to individuals with disabilities in various areas of their lives.About the role:Disability Support Workers are responsible for implementing training and support services aimed at increasing & supporting participants' capacity in living, employment, social and recreational skills. Community inclusion, independence, decision-making, and personal choice should be promoted through these supports, with a focus on all individual needs & goals to help participants achieve independence and quality of life.They work either in participants' homes or out in the community to provide both physical assistance and emotional support.Primary Responsibilities:To deliver the finest support for people with disabilitiesSupport clients to participate in age-appropriate activities and tasks including employment, in-home support and community accessSupport clients to access activities and outings in the communitySupport clients with in-home supportsProvide direct care assistance to each client in accordance with their service plan and as directed by the Manager.Work in accordance with the medication administration policy, work health and safety.Work as part of the broader care team, providing client-centred supports.Work with clients, family/carers, relevant case managers and other professionals to support the client's individual goals.Report to Team leaders regarding any support/care related issues, critical and non-critical incidents.Complete relevant paperwork regarding the client - this must be done prior to the completion of each shift.For example:Shift reportsWHS reports.Administration duties, such as managing finances, receipts and invoicesMaintaining client files in the house and use of up-to-date formsApplication of the clients' care plan in all day-to-day tasksSuitability & Qualifications Criteria:Proof of citizenship (passport, birth certificate or citizenship certificate) or VISA if applicableCurrent QLD Open Driver's LicenseMust hold a Working with Children Blue CardNDIS Workers Screening Yellow CardHold a current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) CertificateA clean National Police check less than 6 months old.Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalentCompleted NDIS Orientation Module.Willing to undergo training in specific courses to support the participant's individual needs.Ability to communicate effectivelyExcellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, including working and communicating effectively with clients, their families, community agencies and other professionalsAbility to work in a busy environment, both independently and as a part of a team.Comply with & understand all privacy and confidentiality policiesCultural awareness of all backgroundsWhy Us?A friendly, supportive, and exciting work environmentFlexible working hours with work-life balancePay above award ratesOngoing training and developmentOpportunities for career developmentAHSL is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
