Uniting Country SA - Caring for Country People About The Position Location: Port Augusta or Whyalla Status: Casual Closing Date for Applications: 02nd December 2024 The Disability Services Team supports people with a disability to undertake educational, vocational and volunteering experiences toward the achievement of their lifestyle goals.
We provide support to National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) clients as specified in their support plan and within our scope of supports listed in our NDIS registration.
As the Disability Support Worker, you will provide support to clients to achieve their desired outcomes, in combination with the outcomes required by their NDIS support plan.
You are: A friendly and approachable person.Able to initiate and maintain conversations with people with a variety of life experiences.Competent in the use of a smart phone.Able to show a high level of initiative and problem solving skills.You will need: A DHS Working with Children Check and a NDIS Worker Check.Your own smart phone.Evidence that you have a right to work in Australia.What else would be good? Current Safe Environments for Children and Young People (Through their Eyes) certificate.Current and unrestricted South Australian Driver's Licence is desirable, but not essential.Your own registered and insured reliable vehicle (if applicable).Current Provide First Aid certificate.Any experience caring for someone or interacting with people living with disability.Certificate III (or above) in Community Services related field (e.g.
Disability, Mental Health, Individual Support) is desirable.Please note: Applicants without a Driver's Licence cannot be considered for any work that includes the transport of participants, and as such, employment opportunities may be limited.
You may also need to be available for some out of hours work and travel between Uniting Country SA sites or interstate as required.
