As a Disability Support Worker with JHS, you will have the opportunity to assist our clients to heal and manage their trauma and move towards their identified goals, empowering the client to have choice and control of their own lives and live their best life.
Supporting roles include:
Providing support through a trauma lensGaining a better understanding of trauma and providing supportSupport the implementation of strategies outlined by a Positive Behaviour Practitioner (this will come with training)Develop and maintain positive communication links with team and practice managerAlert JHS managers of any concerns that may affect a participant's safety, activities and/or a threat to a professional service deliveryContribute to maintaining an effective, productive and happy teamProviding assistance and skill development of personal care needs, shopping and community accessAssisting in the development of independence, leading to increased choice and controlMaintain professional relationships with family and friends of the participantRead and update participants progress/case notes and documents as requiredRecord attendance and complete timesheets on the mobile appAttend and participate in meetings, reviews and committees as requiredWork in accordance with all Journey Health Solutions Policies and ProceduresRequirements & Qualifications Minimum 6 months experience in a Support Worker role or equivalentA solid understanding of Person-Centred Active SupportCertificate in Disability or equivalentFurther qualifications in the areas of mental health/psychosocial/ trauma desirable but not essentialWilling to obtain the relevant mandatory screening clearancesWilling to attend regular team meetings and training sessionsMUST BE AVAILABLE FOR INACTIVE SLEEPOVER SHIFTS (allowance paid above award rates)Must be available to work a mixture of overnight, day shifts and weekendsTo apply and for more information: Submit your application including your Resume and a Cover Letter outlining your desire and commitment to work within the JHS team, via seek or through our careers portal on www.journeyhs.com.au Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
