Job DescriptionA Disability Support worker's purpose is to help people with disabilities by providing hands-on and emotional support, so they can live happy and meaningful lives.
Carers stand up for the people they care for, making sure their needs are met.
They play an important role in ensuring that people with disabilities have the support they need to succeed.
Some of the Duties are but not Limited Medication AdministrationManual handling and hoisting of participantsAssessing participants to determine continuing needsEnsuring you are abreast with behaviour observation and support required for the participant's supportMeal preparation, shopping assistance and house cleaningTaking participants for appointments and other community participationAvailability to cover a range of shifts including sleepovers and short shiftsMaintaining record of participants progressComplete incident reports and ensure the right channels are advised with the necessary informationUndertake the completion of shift notes and proper documentation in line with Hands on People policy and proceduresAssist in other duties as requiredRequired Education/Licenses/Certificates Hold a Certificate III/IV in Disability or Individual Support and demonstrated experience supporting people in a disability support settingCurrent QLD unrestricted driver's licenseCurrent First Aid Certificate and CPRValid NDIS CardCurrent National Police Check Report/ or must be able to obtain oneValid BlueCard.Required Knowledge/Experience Excellent interpersonal, communication, and resilience skillsAdaptability in being able to deliver person-centred services in line with participant goals and needsEffective communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to engage with different team members to facilitate supportRelevant experience in the same field or direct experience in being a carer for a family member or friend
