Disability Support Worker. Casual - WollongongAbout the role In the role of a Disability Support Worker working in Supported Independent Living (SIL) you will be supporting people with disability in shared housing or in their own home, providing various supports including personal care and daily living assistance. You can expect to work across a 24/7 roster.
Key Responsibilities Availability to work sleepover shifts REQUIREDA commitment to supporting and advocating the individual needs, skills, abilities, and personal goals of people with disability through strong communication including non-verbal communication, flexibility and adaptability as well as behaviour managementEmpower the people we support to live independently and achieve their goals by implementing and monitoring individual support, behaviour support, and health care plans with a person-centred approachTrack and document an individual's progress through detailed note-keeping using basic technology and software on mobile devices and desktopsSupporting participants with psychosocial and physical disabilitySkills & Experience A current First Aid Certificate, which includes the course HLTAID003 or HLTAID011 (or willingness to obtain)Current unrestricted driver's licence and access to reliable vehicle (minimum Third Party Insurance)Vaccination Requirement To be considered for and appointed to a position at Life Without Barriers, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a minimum of two (2) doses or hold a valid medical exemption certificate, in accordance with Life Without Barriers Employee COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. You will be required to provide evidence of your vaccination status during the recruitment process.
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
