About the Role Joining the team in Mackay as a Disability Support Worker, you will provide active support to people with disability across Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Lifestyle settings.
The people you will support are looking for experienced support workers who can assist in activities of daily living including personal care, PEG feeding, and manual handling and hoisting.
In our Supported Independent Living (SIL) team, you will support people with disability in shared housing or in their own home, providing various supports including personal care and daily living.
You can expect to work across a 24/7 roster, including availability for sleepover shifts.
Shifts are also available in our Lifestyle program where you will provide one-on-one support to individuals with disabilities in their homes or the community, with travel between clients and working short, split shifts required.
Key Responsibilities Follow person-centred support and behaviour plansProvide personal care, PEG feeding, and manual handling and hoisting assistanceFacilitate client goal achievement through meaningful activitiesMaintain thorough record keepingBuild positive relationships with clients, families, and colleaguesAdvocate for client choice and controlSkills & Experience Previous experience working with people with disabilityExperience in PEG feeding and hoistingAbility to follow behaviour support plansExperience in providing personal careA current First Aid and CPR CertificateSuccessful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including a National Criminal History Record Check and obtain an NDIS Clearance.
