Support Worker Job Summary We are seeking a patient and compassionate support worker to join our team and provide emotional and practical assistance to our clients. In this role, you'll make a significant difference in the quality of life for the people and families that you work with.
Support Worker Duties and Responsibilities Take case notes, and maintain adequate records about the client's progressEmotionally support clients by engaging in conversations and actively listening to their concernsHelp with the client's domestic tasks, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and shoppingProvide advice to clients about practical issues, including assisting with disability grants, finding suitable housing, and any other financial benefitsAccompany clients to meetings with other healthcare facilities or agenciesWork with the families of clients to educate them about proper support for the clientCollaborate with other support workers to exchange advice and best practicesContinuously advance in the profession by attending various seminars, conferences, and other educational opportunitiesSupport Worker Requirements and Qualifications Knowledge of standards and requirements in the support work fieldService-oriented with a passion for helping peopleSolid interpersonal communication skills, with an emphasis on active listeningAbility to build strong relationships and gain trustEmpathetic approach, a non-judgmental attitude, and a willingness to be patientPhysical ability to complete domestic dutiesStrong problem solving and leadership skillsLevel head with the ability to stay calm, even in high-pressure situationsTime management skills and the willingness to prioritize the needs of many clientsAbility to maintain client confidentialityHas at least Cert III in Disability Support or Individual Support6 months of experience in a support worker roleProven compassionate and patient demeanorUp to date First Aid and CPRNDIS Clearance and Working with Children ClearanceJob Type: Casual
Salary: $30.95 – $66.72 per hour
