Zoodoo Zoo, a well-resourced and rapidly growing Zoo near Hobart, Tasmania, is seeking an innovative and dynamic Director (or couple) to lead our zoo into its next phase of development.

Position Overview:
The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the zoo's operations, including animal welfare, guest experience, marketing, staff management, construction and financial performance.
This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring a combination of strategic vision, operational expertise, willingness to step in and assist all areas and a passion for conservation and animal care.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership : Develop and implement long-term strategies to further establish Zoodoo Zoo as a world-class facility, including enhancing animal exhibits, expanding conservation programs, and improving guest engagement.
Financial Management : Ensure the zoo operates within its budget while identifying opportunities for revenue growth through innovative exhibits, events, partnerships, and accommodations.
Animal Care and Welfare : Uphold the highest standards in animal husbandry and care, ensuring the health and well-being of all species within the zoo.
Staff Leadership and Development : Lead, mentor, and inspire a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and productive work culture.
Guest Experience : Enhance and innovate the guest experience, ensuring visitors have an engaging, educational, and memorable time at the zoo.
Oversee the development of new visitor accommodations and attractions.
Marketing and Community Engagement : Develop and execute marketing strategies to increase visitation, build the zoo's reputation, and engage the local community.
Strengthen the zoo's relationships with sponsors, donors, and conservation organizations.
Sustainability and Conservation : Champion sustainability efforts, from conservation programs to eco-friendly practices, and ensure that the zoo is a leader in ethical and environmental stewardship.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in senior management within the zoo, wildlife park, or tourism industry, ideally as a zoo director, curator, or similar leadership role.
Strong understanding of animal welfare standards and best practices in zoo management.
Expertise in strategic planning, financial management, and team leadership.
A passion for wildlife conservation and education, with a track record of developing innovative exhibits and programs.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse range of stakeholders.
A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to build relationships with staff, visitors, donors, and the community.
