Excellent executive level role with a progressive Council in an idyllic location.The District Council of Grant covers an area of 1,900 square kilometres and services a population of over 9,000 residents across several small townships. It is situated on the spectacular southeast coastline of South Australia and is home to many natural and built heritage sites including the Canunda National Park. The area is a popular tourist destination and recreational playground for local, national and international visitors. It is a region known for its diversity of industries including farming, forestry production and fishing. The Council encircles SA's second largest city, Mount Gambier, with access to medical, schooling, employment and other services making Grant an ideal location for families.A rare opportunity has presented to appoint a dynamic and forward-thinking professional to the role of Director Works and Infrastructure.Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and being a part of the Executive Management team, your key responsibilities will include:Provide sound leadership and management across Council and within the community.Management of assets and infrastructure including:Council Managed QuarriesCWMS systemCemeteriesMount Gambier and Regional AirportDeliver capital works programs to agreed timelines and budgets.Ensure the effective maintenance and renewal of Council assets.Maintain a high level of customer service and response rate to the community.Ensure effective governance, risk management and WH&S standards are met.Build high performing teams and maintain an outstanding workplace culture.Supervision of construction projects.Financial oversight of operations within the delegated scope of works.Ideally you will have extensive experience in leading, managing and developing people/teams to deliver on expectations whilst also supporting their professional development. You will need to be able to multi-task, establish workflow priorities and meet agreed deadlines. It is expected that you have a comprehensive knowledge of capital works, asset and infrastructure management, parks and gardens, procurement and project management. Your outstanding written and verbal communication skills will enable you to establish sound relationships with key stakeholders and build a high performing team and an excellent workplace culture.
