Merit List/Pools and How They Will Be UsedApplicants suitable for the role but not offered the position for the current vacancy may be placed in a merit list or pool. If the applicant agrees, the results may be shared with other Australian Public Service (APS) agencies for filling similar roles. Applicants may be offered a future role without the need to reapply. A merit list or pool may be used for up to 18 months.

Current VacanciesThe Social Security Stream has 4 current vacancies across the Participation and Family Payments Group and the Pensions, Housing and Homelessness Group. We are looking for leaders with excellent people management and stakeholder engagement skills, who consider multiple options to resolve challenging issues. Ideally, you will have experience working on complex issues in a politically sensitive environment.
The Key Duties of the Position Include:Provide leadership and strategic direction for a section, including building and maintaining team capacity and capability to deliver results.Lead the provision of high-quality analysis and formulate high-quality advice on the development of new policy or changes to existing policy.Engage and collaborate with colleagues in the Branch, wider department, and external stakeholders to deliver government priorities, including anticipating and responding to emerging issues.Set priorities, manage workflow, and provide project management reporting to ensure timely completion of work.Undertake complex analysis and interpretation and apply significant judgment in decision making.Please review the job pack for the full position description.
