About this role: The Director, Training and Development at Southern Home Services will assess the extent of the Company's training needs and collaborate with leaders in the organization to design effective talent development programs that will refine our employees' skills and increase their overall performance in the organization. The Director, Training and Development will create and maintain a short, medium, and long-term training and development strategy, predicting the costs involved in the training programs and defining the return on investment.
In this role, you will be responsible for: Partner closely with senior management and other leaders to assess technical, interpersonal, and managerial employee skills gaps. Create an overarching training and development strategy that can be adapted to the specific roles in the organization. Reinforce and promote the Southern Home Services culture in all training. Develop exceptionally trained managers/leaders trained to manage their business and their people. Design and implement a variety of learning and development initiatives, including technical training, soft skills training, leadership development training, onboarding programs, and professional development opportunities. Evaluate existing training programs, tools, and platforms and recommend enhancements or novel solutions to ensure they remain effective and aligned with industry best practices. Establish and nurture partnerships with external training providers, industry experts, and educational institutions to leverage external resources and stay up to date with emerging trends and best practices in training and development. Lead direct or indirect training resources to maximize the successful implementation of the training and development strategy. Research, review, recommend and implement a Learning Management System (LMS) to support the Company's growing need to develop its own talent. Develop and oversee the training budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources and tracking return on investment. Drive the creation and maintenance of a learning culture within the organization, promoting employee engagement and self-directed learning opportunities. Leverage data and analytics to measure the effectiveness and impact of training and talent development initiatives, providing regular reporting and insights to key stakeholders. Assess our orientation processes and programs, identify improvement areas, and drive the necessary changes through the organization's leaders. Implement a robust performance management process, including goal setting, performance feedback, and performance improvement plans. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field. 10+ years of training and development experience, with at least 5 years of leadership in training and/or talent development with a focus on designing and implementing comprehensive learning initiatives. Demonstrated success in leading high-performing talent development initiatives in a high-growth trades industry environment. Strong knowledge of training best practices, adult learning principles, and performance management methodologies. Demonstrated experience at leveraging technology for/in training and learning situations. Experience at building a training team from the ground up, multiple locations, and possibly including bricks and mortar locations. Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire audiences at all levels. Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and metrics to drive insights and make data-driven decisions. Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders simultaneously. Passion for training, talent development, learning, and driving a culture of continuous improvement and growth. Significant knowledge with Learning Management Systems and training creation tools and processes. Capability to interpret data from internal and external sources to measure success, evaluate tools and processes, and predict trends. Effective communication skills in both written and oral formats. Initiative-taking individual who loves to learn and take on new responsibilities. Strong collaborator, detail-oriented, and can adjust and adapt to changing priorities. Ability to travel 25+%.
