The BSC is a not-for-profit company established in 2018 to bring together players from across the battery supply chain to ensure that a robust and well-designed battery stewardship scheme is established.
Our mission is to facilitate accessible battery recycling services for consumers in metropolitan and regional areas of Australia.
In joining BSC, you join a very small and highly motivated team of self-directed individuals working in partnership to build an innovative and effective national Stewardship Scheme for batteries.
The Opportunity We are seeking a creative and dynamic leader to support the operation of Australia's national battery Stewardship Scheme with a particular focus on best practice across the collection and recycling network.
Both a big picture thinker and a hands-on implementer, you will engage with the BSC team, members, government, and the wider industry to represent the BSC and facilitate engagement of the battery recycling chain.
Your responsibilities will include: Ensuring collaborative design of operational procedures, with best practice standards and documentation.
Developing, implementing, and improving accreditation processes for governance, environment, quality, OHS, EHS and traceability management systems.
Supporting the development of best practices for safety and compliance in the battery supply chain.
Working with industry to support market development and improved circular economy outcomes.
Developing processes and performance metrics to support transparency and efficiency within the battery recycling chain.
About you As a strategic operator with strong communication, negotiation, organisation, and interpersonal skills, you take pride in your ability to create and sustain momentum in areas of responsibility.
You have experience in environmental health and safety, accreditation and verification activities, and development of industry best practices, and are excited by the opportunity to work alongside high calibre professionals, creating a unique solution in Australia.
To be successful, you will be able to demonstrate your experience in creating change and bring qualifications and/or a track record in:
Management system verification, auditing and accreditation.
Environmental, health and safety management standards and systems.
Industry stakeholder engagement and negotiation.
Business improvement and improved sustainability outcomes.
Environmental management, sustainability and/or circular economy.
Experience in the battery and recycling sector is preferred but not essential.
As a professional, your skill set includes: Delivery of exceptional outcomes in a virtual team environment.
Ability to create compelling written, visual, & verbal communications.
Business development and relationships management.
Facilitation of collaborative teams, events, and solutions.
Use of high-quality documentation, auditing, and communication tools, including social media communications.
Project management skills including tracking and reporting accountabilities in a manner that can be used for external communications.
The management team operates using collaborative decision-making processes and empowers Directors to show initiative and leadership in their areas of responsibility.
In addition, Directors are encouraged to contribute to other strategic discussions and projects and participate in planning of mission-critical activities.
This is a full-time, salaried permanent role, operating in a remote virtual environment.
You will be regularly visiting partner facilities based in Melbourne and Sydney, so willingness to travel is essential.
