Director Strategy & Public Health ProgramsThe Director Strategy and Public Health Programs, Communicable Diseases Management Unit (CDMU) is part of the leadership team within Communicable Diseases Branch, providing strategic, authoritative and expert leadership, advice and direction for the public health response to notifiable conditions and how national policies or responses may impact, and best be implemented in Queensland. In this role you will provide strategic leadership of the development, implementation and monitoring of Queensland's public health response to minimise the burden of notifiable conditions on the Queensland community and deliver on strategic commitments.
The successful person To be eligible for this role you will possess a tertiary degree qualification in Public Health (or equivalent). The essential requirements for this role are:
Strategic leadership to drive and deliver strategic priorities and objectives through developing and overseeing the implementation of local, regional, statewide and whole of government activities as they relate to the prevention and control of communicable diseases and post-infection disease outcomes.Strategic knowledge, expertise and skills in communicable diseases prevention and management matters, including detailed knowledge of the impact of public health responses to communicable diseases of public health importance.Ability to strategically assess, develop, and implement government policy, strategies, protocols and priorities relating to communicable disease transmission and health outcome risks.Knowledge of the social determinants of health affecting marginalised populations including First Nations people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people in institutional settings and homeless people.About us The Department of Health is responsible for the overall management of the public health system in Queensland.
