Coordinate Parks Victoria's statewide recovery program
Critical leadership position
Help restore and improve Victoria's nature and parks
About the organisation
Parks Victoria works in partnership with Traditional Owners, government and non-government organisations, park neighbours, friends' groups and the broader community to manage an expanding and diverse estate covering nearly 20 per cent of the State of Victoria and 70 per cent of its coastline. The organisation manages parks, reserves, waterways and other public land including a representative system of terrestrial and marine national parks and marine sanctuaries. It is also the Local Port Manager for Port Phillip Bay, Western Port and Port Campbell and the Waterway Manager for the Yarra and Maribyrnong rivers.
About the role
Within Parks Victoria's Visitor Experience Division, the Director Statewide Recovery leads a senior team in overseeing the rebuild and recovery of bushfire, flood and extreme weather event damage across Parks Victoria's assets statewide. Drawing upon in-depth knowledge of asset management, project management, emergency and environmental management, and operational service delivery, the Director Statewide Recovery will shape a strategic model to emergency recovery across the entire organisation. This includes working with operational teams, subject matter experts, stakeholders and delivery partners to develop strategies, systems and processes to meet immediate emergency recovery needs while operationalising an enduring model that also links closely with other government agencies.
About you
Tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline (ideally with additional qualifications in project management), you are a project or program delivery leader with deep expertise in effectively leading complex programs of works in highly visible and sensitive environments. Commercially astute with a continuous improvement mindset and an appreciation of the complexities of delivering works programs in highly sensitive natural environments, you deal comfortably with ambiguity and complexity, and are able to distil and synthesise multiple interconnected sources of information to grasp the essence of complex stakeholder issues. An established leader in your field, you are energised by the idea of using your considerable commercial and leadership capabilities to protect and promote Victoria's beautiful landscape and coastline.
