The role In this role, you'll lead state-led planning initiatives, including rezoning and strategic place-making, to shape great places across NSW. You'll work closely with councils, communities, and various agencies to coordinate and resolve complex planning issues, ensuring that land use is well integrated with infrastructure. The role also involves providing expert advice to senior executives to support evidence-based decision-making and drive impactful planning outcomes.
The main challenge lies in balancing diverse stakeholder interests and managing high-pressure timelines, often in a politically sensitive environment. You will need to exercise sound judgment to prioritise tasks and deliver timely, high-quality planning solutions that align with government objectives.
What you will bring to the role Significant knowledge of the workings of government and in-depth knowledge and experience working with applicable legislation and regulations. Significant experience at managing significant change and large and complex resources to achieve key organisational objectives. Significant experience in mobilising discrete projects, programs and initiatives. Proven leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve shared goals. Capable of driving outcomes while effectively involving stakeholders throughout the process, fostering collaboration and buy-in. What is an essential requirement: Tertiary qualification in urban planning, architecture or a related discipline. Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary team of professionals in a complex working environment.
