The Director, Serious Offenders Group will provide high level leadership, advice and direction of key agency functions in relation to the management of serious offenders and undertake delegated decision making in relation to this cohort.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the operational oversight of the serious offenders group within QCS, including the provision of high-level expert advice and the development and implementation of policies and procedures.Provide accurate and timely advice to QCS senior executives on operational issues and risks relevant to serious offenders, including actions and notifications taken to mitigate risks to frontline officers, victims and their families, and the broader community.Chair committees to support the Maximum-Security Order delegates decision making, discharges and releases for high risk or high-profile prisoners, and the triage, case management and oversight of countering violence extremism prisoners.Exercise delegated decision making for classification, placement, transfers and Maximum-Security Orders in accordance with legislative criteria within the Queensland Corrective Services Act 2006.Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with operational managers and staff at all levels of the organisation and key external stakeholders to consult, review service performance and collaborate on key issues; to strengthen outcomes and improve service quality, accessibility and responsiveness.Promote the activities of Sentence Management Services and enhance relationships with key stakeholders, such as Department of Home Affairs, Office of the Interim Victims Commissioner, Department of Justice and Attorney-General, Queensland Police Service and other law enforcement and national security agencies to protect the community.Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of employees in accordance with the responsibilities under the Public Service Act and maintain own level of knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures relevant to managing staff and contemporary management practices.Manage compliance with corporate governance, budgetary and human resources, workplace health and safety management practices and associated legislative frameworks.Applications to remain current for 12 months.
