What You'll Do: As Director, Safety and CI, you will be accountable for improving Americold's competitive advantage and driving excellence in safety and continuous improvement (CI) You will lead the regional Safety, CI, Americold Operating System and Business Process whilst working within global frameworks, best practice and lean principles are critical to the success of this position.
As a leader within the business you will will deliver outcomes in accordance with our values and in a way that improves business performance and culture.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: * Assist the line organisation reduce the number and cost of workplace injuries and motor vehicle accidents * Provide advice and tools to assist the line organisation exercise their Safety responsibilities * Coach and influence leadership to set and enforce safety standards * Ensure governance activities such as auditing and reporting performance to OHS standards are adhered to * Assist leadership set Safety objectives and targets * Assist the line organisation celebrate safety success and implement corporate initiatives to drive a safety culture * Be involved in high-risk networks designed to develop solutions to major hazards within the business * Recommend focus areas for employee training * Ensure safety is considered in business tendering and new business set up * Provide monthly reports, including relevant safety KPIs, to the SLT and Managing Director * Be accountable for Quality and Meeting our Food Safety and other related accreditation across the company at all facilities * Responsible and champion for driving labor management in our facilities * Author, co-author with our global office and upholder of our operating, quality, safety, security and environmental standards across the region * Establishes, maintain and enhance positive relationships with customers * Provide strong, consistent and visible leadership, in accordance with the company's goals and objectives * Develop and maintain appropriate relationships with customers, internally and externally to facilitate the company goals and objectives * Demonstrate Best Practice in Safety management * Demonstrate leadership in Operational Excellence using Best Practice for compliance, budgeting, planning, training and evaluating associates * Communicate regularly with leadership, keeping them advised of progress, challenges and additional support that maybe required * Drive, develop, coordinate and oversee key programs that will reduce risk and improves our company's performance * Partner with cross functional teams that will deliver lean improvements to deliver process and productivity/profitability improvements * Develop and review Key Performance Indicators, that show trends, provides insights to take actions on poor trends.
* Make regular visits to sites to ensure company standards are being practiced for compliance.
* Maintain Americold industry knowledge * Incorporating best practices at all times into Americold's business What Experience and Education You Need: * Bachelor's degree and/or 5 years of business-related work experience preferred.
* 3PL Operational Management experience * 5+ years of work experience in CI, Lean and Team Leadership and development * Recognised as a leader of modern safety programs in the industry or related industry * Recognised as an expert in operational standards deployment, supporting programs and methods that support sustainable CI in our industry or related industries * Experience working in an organisation with an excellent safety culture * Safety management system auditing experience * Experience in influencing people to gain results * Experience in incident investigation * Subject-matter expert in relative industries such as distribution, retail, warehousing, supply chain or logistics preferred * Lean practitioner, and able to pass on training to others in an effective manner * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with intermediate to advanced skill level in Excel and PowerPoint.
* Ability to travel an average 50% of the time What Could Set You Apart: * Good communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to communicate with all levels of the business.
