The child is at the centre of everything we do and the way we do it.
The Office of Safeguarding was established in 2021 to elevate the safety of children and young people as a critical element in schools, Child and Family Learning Centres, libraries, Services for Children and Families and corporate services across all parts of the Department for Education, Children and Young (DECYP). The Director Safeguarding leads a small team with a wide remit. Achievements to date include a whole of agency Safeguarding commitment; the launch of the tellsomeone website; training for staff, volunteers and the public, and mandatory reporting. The successful applicant will lead the next phase of DECYP's evolution as a Child and Youth Safe Organisation, through policies and programs that promote and protect the wellbeing of children and young people in all Department settings.
