An exciting opportunity for a new Director RTW and Safety with Newcastle Anglican. You will be responsible for leading the WHS and workers compensation function across the organisation. This position will develop and implement the safety and RTW strategy and align associated activities in order to achieve it. This position is perfect for a seasoned professional with experience in safety and RTW at a Director level. Why work for us?

What are we looking for?

Lead an organisation-wide approach to health and safety, workers compensation, and return to work initiatives, ensuring these are strategically aligned across all Newcastle Anglican agencies. Providing expert advice as well as promotion of a strong safety culture that reinforces risk as core to strategy, business operations Working with leaders and own team to improve outcomes for employees and performance metrics, with consideration of both the individual needs of different teams as well as financial implications Overseeing the strategic implementation of WHS initiatives, ensuring compliance with legislation, overseeing risk assessment and mitigation, conducting inspections and audits, managing incident and injury procedures, and promoting a strong safety culture through collaboration, training, and continuous improvement efforts Providing expertise and guidance to ensure compliant injury management and return-to-work programs, support education and collaboration with stakeholders, monitoring program effectiveness, and ensuring continuous improvement, while addressing individual needs and promoting a strong safety culture Assisting the Executive Director in improving the overall safety maturity with a focus on continuous improvement of workers compensation and return to work programs Identifying and assessing emerging safety risks and hazards and recommending approaches to managing Effectively leading a team of direct and indirect reports

About you?

Tertiary qualifications in risk management, compliance or a related discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience in that field A health and safety leader with demonstrable experience in leading and the continuous improvement of this function Substantial experience in workers compensation and return to work programs Experience liaising with regulators Experience in a large, multi-faceted organisation Strong influencing and negotiation skills demonstrating high levels of commerciality and pragmatism Ability to develop and lead a multi-discipline team in order to meet Newcastle Anglican objectives
