The Local Government Association of the Northern Territory (LGANT) is a small, vibrant, and cohesive team of dedicated people who form the peak representative body which delivers services to and provides a 'voice' for the 16 local governing bodies in the Northern Territory.
LGANT is seeking a Director of Roads & Infrastructure to join our small high performing team.
Position Objective:
The Director of Roads & Infrastructure will manage and enhance LGANT's local road network and provide high-level support and advice that enables LGANT to effectively influence the development of public policy.
Key Responsibilities:
The position will:
Manage LGANT's 2,000km remote road network including prioritisation, maintenance, upgrades, safety, risks, procurement and contract management.
Be responsible for a range of subject matter relevant to LGANT's strategic priorities related, but not limited to, roads, transport, infrastructure and asset management.
Influence public policy and decision-making, including through undertaking research and analysis and drafting and coordinating letters, submissions, briefings, plans, reports, and Board papers.
Identify grants and secure resources for road, transport, infrastructure and asset related projects.
Foster relationships including coordinating a road/infrastructure network of relevant officers from member councils and representing LGANT on working groups and committees.
Selection Criteria:
The following skills, experience and qualifications are:
Essential:
Understanding of innovative practices in road construction, maintenance, safety and risk management.
Demonstrated experience in delivering civil/roads infrastructure projects, particularly in regional and remote areas.
Experience across Northern and Central Australia will be highly regarded.
Strong project and contract management skills, including the ability to plan, implement, evaluate and acquit road infrastructure projects.
Experience in advocacy and policy demonstrating analytical, advisory, research, synthesis and negotiation skills.
Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise competing demands to meet deadlines.
Demonstrate curiosity, a can-do and outcomes focused attitude.
Ability to learn quickly, work independently and take initiative.
Ability to maintain discretion and neutrality.
A current NT driver's licence and the ability to travel interstate and to regional and remote areas in the NT.
An Australian citizen or have a current, relevant visa to work in Australia.
Desirable:
Tertiary qualifications or certifications in civil engineering, infrastructure management, or a related field.
