You will shape whole-of-department priorities and responses on First Nations policy and play a lead role in coordinating the Department's response to Whole of Government (WOG) First Nations related matters. You will contribute to significant reforms and outcomes for First Nations people in Queensland, particularly as the government embarks on its path to Treaty.
TARGETED VACANCY ( IDENTIFIED POSITION) ~ This position is designated as Identified. Under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (QLD), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person is one who: Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and either is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent or Is accepted as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which he or she lives. • Provide leadership in the management and implementation, and promotion of a responsive First Nations Reform agenda arising from Path to Treaty, Closing the Gap, Reframing the Relationship and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Action Plans.
• Work with business units across the department to implement the First Nations reform priorities and responses on First Nations strategy, policy, and operational matters based on insights arising from data and evidence.
• Lead and deliver enhanced organisational performance, based on partnerships and shared analysis of data and evidence for the First Nations agenda across the department and government.
• Manage the provision of data and analysis of evidence to inform and support First Nations WOG working groups. 
• Provide authoritative advice on First Nations aspects of strategies, policies and services delivered by the Department, particularly as it relates to data and evidence.
• Drive change across business units and the department's activities, to uplift of cultural capability.
• Provide advice on the data partnership aspects of the department's engagement with First Nations communities.
• Oversee budgeting and funding processes for First Nations initiatives and priorities, including through procurement.
• Manage the human and financial resources of a team.
• Provide evaluation and reporting on the department's performance against its First Nations priorities and commitments.
• Provide a First Nations lens over Ministerial and Executive briefs, submissions and reporting.

Mandatory requirements:
• Applicants must nominate (or provide a written reference from) an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to their knowledge, skills or experience to demonstrate cultural capabilities as required. This person may be a community member, supervisor or work colleague.
