Director Reporting, Intelligence and Research Full time
$134,567 - $161,521 + up to 15.4% Superannuation
The Director Reporting, Intelligence and Research has responsibility for specialised elements of the Defence Flight Safety Bureau's independent investigation capability.
The position leads three teams comprised of several occupational disciplines and works with broad direction and considerable autonomy to deliver aviation safety reporting, intelligence, research and applied human factors programs.
About our Team
The Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA) operates to enhance and promote the safety of military aviation through the implementation of a Defence Aviation Safety Program that promotes a generative safety culture and independently assures the effective management of Defence aviation safety risks.
As part of DASA, the Defence Flight Safety Bureau (DFSB) supports the prevention of military aerospace accidents and enhances flight safety through a systemic approach to investigation, data collection, research, education and promotion.
The Reporting Intelligence and Research (RIR) Directorate within DFSB drives specialist elements of DFSB's capability through the development and maintenance of Defence aviation safety reporting and intelligence systems, as well as safety culture, research and applied psychological and human factors-related support and programs.
Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with over ten years' experience as a registered Psychologist human factors role in a relevant safety critical industry, with experience working within aviation and Defence an advantage.
The successful candidate will have experience in:
Providing psychological and human factors expertise in complex safety investigations;
Demonstrated expertise in safety climate surveillance in a complex organisational structure;
Proven ability to lead the strategic development and management of applied human factors programs;
A deep understanding of aviation-specific topics such as non-technical skills training, safety management systems, fatigue management, safety reporting and investigation, safety climate assessment;
Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards;
Proven ability to lead multiple teams with diverse occupational disciplines in a dynamic environment;
Strategic thinker with the capability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in safety practices;
A strong commitment to ethical conduct and professional standards, as well as a dedication to improving aviation safety and performance;
Superior interpersonal and communication skills and abilities, with a proven record in cultivating productive working relationships with Defence, Industry and other Government stakeholders on matters relating to aviation safety.
