The Policy, Evidence and Practice Leadership Division is delivering important reforms to improve the NDIS for people with disability. We are seeking experienced professionals from a range of backgrounds who are able to provide thought leadership, content expertise, and rigorous policy analysis in the management of key strategic issues to improve the effectiveness of the NDIS.
Where you can add valueAs a Director in the Policy, Evidence and Practice Leadership Division, you will lead a multi-disciplinary and agile team to develop policy and deliver complex projects that have strategic and operational significance to the NDIA. You will work closely with teams in the division, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Leading the management, preparation, and coordination of complex Scheme policy development.Providing advice on strategic reforms and proposing improvements to existing policies.Leading the engagement and co-design activities with a range of key stakeholders, including the disability community, to ensure that policy development is contemporary, relevant, and evidence-informed.Enough about us, let's talk about youWe are looking for candidates from a range of professional backgrounds with a demonstrated ability to drive strategic change in complex operating environments. You will have the ability to navigate complexity and uncertainty with personal drive, sound judgement, and integrity. Your experience and sound leadership skills will inspire your team members to strive for the best outcomes. You should have a deep understanding of the social context of disability and a comprehensive knowledge of key disability issues. You should possess highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and excellent ability to consult and negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholders.
While this role is ideally performed from Geelong or Richmond - VIC, Surry Hills - NSW, Deakin - ACT, Brisbane - QLD, or Perth - WA, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity; however, non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered. A merit pool will be established that may be used to fill similar positions (ongoing and non-ongoing) within the next 18 months.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.

Getting to know the National Disability Insurance AgencyThe NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain more time with family and friends, greater independence, access to new skills, jobs, or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life. The NDIS also connects anyone with disability to services in their community. This includes connections to doctors, community groups, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries, and schools, as well as providing information about what support is provided by each state and territory government. The NDIS now supports over 500,000 Australians with disability to access the services and supports they need, including supporting approximately 80,000 children with developmental delay, ensuring they receive supports early so that they achieve the best outcomes throughout their lives.
