About the Role This is an ongoing STS role The Director, Planning Digital Solutions, is a key senior leadership position within the Spatial Services & Planning Solutions team. This role is pivotal in managing digital systems and websites that support both strategic and statutory planning functions within the Department of Transport and Planning. The Director is tasked with ensuring that the digital needs of government, industry, and citizens are met through reliable and innovative solutions, while also building and leading a dynamic, high-performing team to achieve these goals.
In this role, the Director oversees a portfolio of digital solutions, with a focus on workflow and web-based systems. The responsibilities encompass the entire lifecycle of digital and web solutions, from agile development and design to ongoing support and sustainment. This includes managing application development, user support, system testing, training, and coordinating service provider activities to ensure that the digital tools effectively meet user needs.
The Director will also play a critical role in fostering strong relationships with business stakeholders to identify opportunities where digital solutions can better support planning functions. They will lead the development of business cases to enhance the digital product offering and drive continuous improvement of systems and processes. This includes ensuring alignment with policy, engaging stakeholders effectively, and implementing robust business controls, including finance, risk management, data, digital, and procurement processes.
Position Outcomes You'll have utilised your extensive expertise in application maintenance and development to effectively manage the entire lifecycle, maintenance, and support of the application portfolio. Regularly reviewed and refined service requirements in collaboration with relevant business units, ensuring that service standards consistently met the needs of service owners. Day-to-day operations of digital solutions were managed with a focus on meeting established service delivery standards and targets, while implementing measures to optimise service management processes and enhance overall operational efficiency.
You'll ensure uninterrupted service continuity for critical functions, programs, and services by collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders to understand their requirements and expectations for digital services. Strong partnerships with key stakeholders were established and maintained to facilitate seamless service delivery. Additionally, managed relationships with vendors and franchisees, overseeing work progression, assessing supplier contract performance, and ensuring compliance with DTP obligations to provide end-to-end services to the business.
