Director, People & Culture - Case Management About the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission
The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. The role of the Commission is to protect and enhance the safety, health, wellbeing and quality of life of people receiving aged care.
The Commission is the national end-to-end regulator of aged care services and the primary point of contact for consumers and providers in relation to quality and safety. Our vision is to support a world-class aged care system driven by empowered consumers who enjoy the best possible quality of life.
The Case Management team is responsible for managing complex employee-related issues within the Commission relating to behaviour, performance and health & safety. The team manages risks associated with injured or ill staff, performance issues and workplace grievances through investigations, ensuring accurate record-keeping, reporting, and compliance with regulations.
About the Role
The Director, Case Management will establish and lead a new team that manages employee cases relating to behaviour, performance, and health & safety within the Commission. This includes establishing technology, policies, and processes to support effective case management and stakeholder engagement. The role involves overseeing the management of complex cases, including compensation and investigations, as well as providing guidance to team members.
Position Duties
Establish a new Case Management team and uplift the Commission's case management approach.
Solve complex employee-related cases, considering reputational, regulatory, and legal consequences.
Oversee and guide internal and external investigations, reviewing the employee complaint portfolio and reporting on trends.
Manage complex workplace grievances or complaints through high-quality, independent investigations.
Oversee health/rehabilitation case management for injured or ill employees.
Manage and mentor a team of rehabilitation case managers and investigators.
Provide advice to Commission leadership on employee-related issues.
Regularly review the quality standards and effectiveness of case management processes.
Sustain effective relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Contribute to the leadership, strategic planning, and performance reporting of the P&C function.
Leadership and Accountability
Manage case management operations including budgets and human resources.
Lead case management staff to achieve individual and team performance objectives.
Contribute to the leadership and strategic planning of the P&C function.
Collaborate and engage in organisational initiatives.
Identify and manage workforce risks.
Contribute to relevant governance committees.
Position Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria)
Highly developed leadership and change management skills.
Ability to foster a positive team culture while managing performance.
Extensive knowledge of statutory, regulatory, and policy frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic direction.
High standard of verbal and written communication.
Please note - initially this vacancy will be filled as non-ongoing.
Position Notes
Salary offered will be between $136,307 - $161,381 per annum depending on skills and experience, plus 15.4% superannuation.
Only candidates who hold Australian citizenship can apply. Appointment is conditional on completing a national police check.
Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to 24 months.
Merit Pool established through this selection process may be used for future vacancies.
