With a dynamic CEO and Board, Safe Steps is growing rapidly, with a vision to double the size of the organisation and clients it serves over the next 3 years.
Safe Steps provides crisis support services, including a 24/7 emergency hotline and the provision of short-term emergency accommodation for victim-survivors.
In addition, Safe Steps operates the 1800 RESPECT Hotline on behalf of the Federal Government, due to its deep expertise in domestic violence, risk management and client support.
As a member of the Safe Steps Executive Team, reporting to the CEO, the Director - People, Culture & Wellbeing is responsible for developing and delivering a workforce strategy and culture change program to facilitate the organisation's ambitious growth plans.
Specifically, the role will be responsible for:
Development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic workforce plan to support the organisations growth objectives
Design an innovative employee wellbeing program that is effective in the context of a 24/7 operating environment subject to high levels of psychosocial trauma
Develop a proactive Occupational Health & Safety strategy to reduce the risk and incidence of workplace injuries and improve return to work outcomes
Design and implement a comprehensive talent attraction and retention strategy, using innovative strategies
Build an effective and proactive working relationship, both internally and externally, with a diverse group of stakeholders
Lead the development of a culture development plan, ensuring the target culture is well defined and reflected in all people policies and practices
Our ideal candidate will have:
A highly commercial HR Executive with experience in leading an HR function across a business and reporting to a CEO
Experience in Board reporting
Experience in developing and implementing an end to end workforce strategy, including strong experience in workforce planning
Experience in operating in 24/7 work environments in an emergency response context
An understanding of environments subject to psychosocial trauma
An innovative approach to people and culture, driven by pragmatism and a preparedness to think unconventionally in solving complex problems
Expertise in implementing and operating effective HR and Payroll systems
Experience in driving a highly diverse and inclusive work environment
A strong drive to deliver on growth targets and a motivation to challenge the status quo
A high degree of emotional stability and resilience to remain calm and unflustered under pressure
Exceptional relationship management and influencing skills
