Current Opportunity – Director/ Partner - IFRS and Sustainability We have an opportunity for a Director or Partner to join our CFO Advisory team in Brisbane.
In this role, you will provide a range of technical and strategic, financial and corporate reporting advice to clients.
In addition to the breadth of IFRS exposure and complex challenges, this role will have a lead role in supporting our clients that now have a responsibility to report under the new sustainability reporting standards.
As a member of the CFO Advisory team, you will have a breadth of opportunity to apply your expertise in both strategic and technical delivery roles across a range of finance function advisory, financial governance, transformation, infrastructure and other iconic public sector projects.
This role will also be a part of the National IFRS team that provides you with a network of like-minded specialists to offer further support, collaboration and growth opportunities.
Key responsibilities will include: Interpret and provide input into the development of new technical accounting solutions that support client delivery and risk management teams within BDO's Brisbane office Provide specialist technical advice on the application of IFRS and Australian Accounting Standards, including Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards to clients in relation to complex transactions Reviewing and assisting with financial statement disclosures Working with clients to prepare high quality financial statements Prepare and deliver client accounting seminars and training as required Research into and development of responses to changes in IFRS accounting standards Assist with the growth of the IFRS Advisory (nationally) team through the development of a suitable professional profile and other marketing and business development activities Involvement in other CFO Advisory services as required as a member of the CFO Advisory team Lead and grow the IFRS and CFO Advisory team in Brisbane alongside the well established team and Partner group What you'll need to succeed Strong interest and knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) Ability and interest to progressively develop an in-depth technical understanding of new sustainability topics Ability to succinctly present on a technical topic, and articulate the issue and impact for our clients Genuine interest in environment, social and governance (ESG) issues or a strong desire to work in Sustainability & Decarbonisation Strategy engagements (Nice to have) experience with Queensland Government accounting and financial management legislation and regulations Excellent communication skills and confidence to communicate your view Desire to be a leader in developing and growing a team Strong client and stakeholder focus Why BDO?
