What's the job? As the Director of Strategy and Architecture, you will lead the continual transformation of our university's Digital IT landscape. Your role involves inputting into a digital experience strategy that enhances student engagement and retention and aligns with university goals. You will build strong business partnerships, establish a new architecture practice, and implement a technology roadmap that drives innovation and efficiency. By integrating enterprise and solution architecture frameworks, you will ensure reduction in technical debt in favour of scalable and adaptable solutions that meet current and future needs. Your leadership will focus on mentoring a high-performing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and advancing our digital and data capabilities. The role is required to baseline our current maturity in business engagement and architecture and develop a comprehensive maturity roadmap.

Day-to-day accountabilities: You will focus on developing strategies to improve the digital experience, forging key business partnerships, and embed an architectural practice to improve the overall success of our solutions and alignment with university goals. You will manage the technology roadmap, ensure milestones are met, and oversee the implementation of secure and scalable technology solutions.
Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
Establish this new practice and produce a maturity roadmap for business engagement and architecture. Input into a digital experience strategy to enhance student engagement and retention. Build strong business partnerships and establish a business engagement model. Oversee the technology roadmap and ensure progress against key milestones. Integrate and uphold a robust enterprise and solution architecture framework. Lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable technology solutions. Oversee the architecture governance committee and associated processes. This is a full-time permanent position with flexibility to work from home or from our Surry Hills Campus in Sydney.

Who you are You are an accomplished IT leader in digital and technology positions. You bring extensive experience in architecture frameworks, application development and cloud computing. Your expertise includes business capability modelling, microservice and cloud-native architectures, and cybersecurity principles. You excel in communication, problem-solving, and leadership, with a proven ability to drive digital transformation and collaborate effectively across teams.
15+ years in digital and technology, including 5 years in leadership roles.
Enterprise Architecture Proficiency: Expertise in frameworks like TOGAF and Zachman. Cloud and Architecture Knowledge: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS) and microservice architecture. Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills and exceptional ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Digital Transformation and Problem-Solving: Expertise in digital transformation technologies (e.g., AI, Machine Learning) and strong problem-solving abilities. Why join us?
