We are currently inviting applications for the following leadership role: DIRECTOR OF SPORT - SECONDARY The Director of Sport – Secondary is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership, development and coordination of the co-curricular sport program across Years 7 – 12.
The role ensures a high-quality sport and activities program is offered which promotes high levels of participation and opportunities for student growth, success and excellence in sport.
Both qualified teachers and those without a teaching qualification will be considered.
The conditions of employment will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
The role is the face of sport in the secondary school and some of the key responsibilities of the role include: Leading the future planning and development of the secondary school sport program with a dynamic student-centred vision Managing the interschool and intraschool sport programs, club sports, interhouse carnivals and supplementary competitions.
Promoting a culture which encourages high levels of participation by students and implementing programs that enable individuals and teams to progress from participation to achieving their personal best.
Optimising resources and ensuring a high level of risk management and safety across the program.
Effectively managing all staff and volunteers within the sport and activities program.
Sport at St Margaret's St Margaret's has a long, proud history of women in sport.
The school was one of three founding members of the Queensland Girls' Secondary Schools Sports Association (QGSSSA) in 1908, an association that continues today.
The school also competes in the Brisbane Schoolgirls' Rowing Association (BRSA), Brisbane Water Polo Association Inc (BWPI) and Downey Park Netball Association (DPNA).
The primary school is a member of the Andrews Cup Competition.
The sport program at the school is diverse and inclusive and currently includes AFL, Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Cross Country, Soccer, Gymnastics, Hockey, Netball, Rowing, Swimming, Tennis and Touch Football.
The school culture is inclusive and encourages a high-level of participation in the sporting program.
The successful candidate The ideal candidate will be able to clearly demonstrate: Relevant qualifications and a strong background in sports management either in schools or a similar context.
Previous sports management experience with the demonstrated ability to lead a large and diverse sport program.
Previous experience managing and developing coaches and/or other staff.
A passion for encouraging participation in sport and active living.
Exceptional leadership skills, including well-developed time management and organisation skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build positive working relationships with students, staff, parents and external bodies.
