Reporting directly to the Principal, the Director of Sport will collaborate with the Senior and Middle Leadership Teams to deliver a world-class sporting program that reflects the Augustinian values of community, humility, interiority and restless search for the truth.As Director of Sport, you will be responsible for overseeing both intra-school and inter-school sports activities, including the prestigious Association of Independent Colleges (AIC) and Non-AIC competitions. You will lead a dedicated team and play a key role in the College's efforts to build a thriving, inclusive sporting culture that fosters student engagement, sportsmanship, and personal development.Villanova is a foundation member of the AIC sports competition, Australia's largest weekly sports competition by participation numbers and opportunities offered. The primary purpose of the position of Director of Sport is to lead, coordinate and manage the College's intra and inter-school programs of co-curricular sports competitions and activities. We strive to form well-rounded, resilient, and thoughtful individuals who are equipped to make a positive difference in the world.Villanova College embraces the rich traditions of the Catholic Church and the Augustinian charism, creating an inclusive, dynamic, and supportive environment for students, staff, and the wider community.As the successful candidate you will:Lead and manage the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of the College sporting program, ensuring it aligns with the College Augustinian mission.Foster a culture of participation and inclusivity, encouraging students to engage in a wide range of sporting activities.Oversee the coordination of staff, coaches, and volunteers to support the delivery of the sports program.Collaborate with staff, parents, external coaches, and the wider community to ensure the effective operation of the program.Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding sporting events, results, and student achievements.Manage the sports budget, coordinate events, and ensure the program runs efficiently and effectively.Provide leadership and guidance on best practices in sports administration, team management, and student welfare.Key Selection CriteriaCommitment to Catholic Faith and Augustinian Charism: a demonstrated understanding of and active commitment to the Augustinian values and Catholic identity, with the ability to integrate these into the sporting program.Leadership and Program Development: proven leadership skills with a track record of developing, managing, and evaluating successful sports programs, particularly within a school or educational setting.Community Engagement: strong ability to foster a sense of community among staff, students, parents, and external stakeholders, promoting participation, sportsmanship, and positive relationships.Communication and Interpersonal Skills: exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences, including students, parents, staff, and external partners.Sports Administration Experience: extensive experience in sports administration, including managing budgets, coordinating events, and overseeing intra- and inter-school sports activities.Essential Qualifications & ExperienceTertiary qualifications in Education and Sports Administration, or a related field.Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational or sporting organisation.Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.A commitment to ongoing professional development and the ability to engage with wider professional learning networks.Why Villanova College?Villanova College provides a dynamic and enriching environment for staff and students alike.
