Lead research excellence at RBWH, fostering high-impact studies, translating outcomes to clinical care, and guiding Metro North's research strategy.
The Director of Research holds a key executive leadership role in the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital (RBWH) and is a member of a multidisciplinary team that works together to develop innovative ways to deliver efficient, high-quality patient care and achieve key performance outcomes for RBWH and Metro North Health.
The position will be responsible for leading and fostering research activities and supporting the implementation of translational research outcomes across RBWH.
The Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the relevant RBWH research operational plan in collaboration with the RBWH Executive Committee, RBWH Research Council, and the Executive Director Research, Metro North, with alignment to the Metro North Research Strategy.
The role will work in close collaboration with the Metro North Office of Research and the Metro North Research Governance team.
The successful candidate will be an accomplished researcher with a strong clinical background, with demonstrated skills and experience in research development, research project management, and research higher degree supervision.
This role requires a strong track record in leading knowledge translation and in the implementation of research outcomes into sustainable improvements in healthcare delivery.
It is anticipated and highly desirable that the Director will undertake and progress their own program of research within the active research environment on the Herston Health Precinct and may also actively participate in relevant clinical practice.

Mandatory qualifications/professional registration/other requirements Appointment to this position requires proof of tertiary qualification in a Health Practitioner discipline, and, where applicable, registration or membership with the relevant registration authority or association.
Research Doctorate OR Appropriate research track record; AND/OR history of success in obtaining competitive research grants.
Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement.
