About the Cardiology Department The Cardiology department provides an extensive range of cardiac services to inpatients and outpatients including consultations, echocardiography, non-invasive testing (ECG, Holter monitoring), coronary angiography, electrophysiological testing, and device implantation.
The department provides 24-hour cardiac catheterisation laboratory services for acute myocardial infarction.
In-patients are managed predominantly in the 32-bed Cardiac and Thoracic Unit.
The department has links to the University of Melbourne and is involved in teaching, training, and research.
About the role Austin Health is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic leader for the position of Director of Cardiology.
The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and a proven ability to manage and support both clinical and academic activities within the Cardiology discipline.
As Director of Cardiology, you will work closely with the Divisional Management Team to lead all strategic and operational aspects of the service, ensuring the effective use of resources and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and overseeing all aspects of the Cardiology department's services.Providing leadership and guidance to both clinical and non-clinical team members.Promoting a culture of excellence in clinical practice, education, and research.Being accountable for patient care standards and outcomes.About you You will have excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care.
To be successful for this role you must:
Be a registered Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)Hold a Fellowship of the relevant Australian Learned College (FRACP), or equivalentHave appropriate training and experience in CardiologyDemonstrate a commitment to high-quality patient careDemonstrate an ongoing commitment to teaching, training, and research.Working at Austin Health means enjoying a strong sense of purpose, engaging in meaningful work every day.
