About the Director - National Women's Equality Alliance role: The Working with Women Alliances (WWA) is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader for the position of Director of the National Women's Equality Alliance (NWEA).
Reporting directly to the Executive Director of WWA and based in Canberra, this is a key leadership role representing the membership advocating for policies and improved outcomes that make positive impacts in the lives of women, in all their diversity.
As the Director of NWEA, you will be instrumental in providing expert advice to the government on national policy and evaluation against the progress of the Working for Women Gender Equality Strategy.
This role involves engaging with stakeholders, managing working groups, and producing public statements to advance the work of the alliance.
You will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the national dialogue on gender equality and help implement Australia's first gender equality strategy.
You will oversee a small team that includes one direct report, the NWEA Policy Officer and will need to regularly participate in engagement with Federal government departments, Ministers, and other stakeholders.
As the Director of National Women's Equality Alliance your responsibilities will also include: Build and grow the membership of the NWEA, establishing trust and leadership role for NWEA.Lead the integration of effective policy strategies both internally and externally.Membership and stakeholder engagement, development, and productive engagement with the expert advisory committees.Providing media and public statements on the work of the NWEA.Stay informed on new policy trends and the external political landscape that may influence NWEA initiatives.Oversee the development of policy submissions and member support based on research and proven prevention strategies.Build and maintain relationships with partner organisations, universities, and researchers focused on women's gender equality.Completion of reporting requirements such as NWEA activity work plan and reporting to the Governance committee.Manage the work plan and tasks of the NWEA Policy Officer.To be successful for this role you will possess: Tertiary qualifications in policy, advocacy, research, government relations, or campaigning.Minimum of 5 years' experience in relevant roles.Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mindset.Proven experience in creating policy and advocacy materials, including government submissions, reports, and position papers.Strong research and evaluation skills, with a high level of analytical and problem-solving abilities.Demonstrated experience in establishing, managing, and leading teams.Robust project management skills, with the capacity to multitask and work under pressure.Experience in developing and executing advocacy campaigns in both online and offline environments.High work ethic, self-motivated, and focused on outcomes.Innovative, collaborative, and creative approach to work.Team-oriented with a passion for mentoring staff.Genuine interest in advocacy and campaigning in a not-for-profit environment.Why Join Us?
