Southern Mallee District Council is a diverse municipality with rural and township-based communities and vast agricultural and horticultural enterprises. It is located 200 kilometres to the east of Adelaide and covers 5,700 km2.
Southern Mallee is central to the greater Mallee Region and is located within the south east of the administrative region of the Murraylands and Riverland. Lameroo and Pinnaroo are key Mallee towns and represent a key economic zone on the Mallee Highway between Adelaide and Sydney. The Ngarkat and Karte Conservation Parks feature as major landmarks in the Southern Mallee and protect significant natural assets including a diverse range of plants and wildlife.
Reporting to the CEO, this role is a key member of the Executive team and will work to establish and implement the strategic direction for the organisation and foster an innovative and positive organisational culture.
The Director Infrastructure Services is responsible for the leadership and management of a range of programs and services that contribute to Council's strategic objectives. The Infrastructure Services team delivers across the whole of Council in the areas of road, footpath and drainage asset management and works, swimming pool operations, parks and gardens, waste management, airport management, cleaning services, capital works program delivery, contract management and procurement.
To be successful in this role you will need to have:
Extensive operational infrastructure, project management and/or strategic experience in a related role within a local government, private sector and/or a comparable complex sector. Experience liaising with and reporting to a range of internal and external stakeholders, and interpreting and advising on key issues relating to the team's programs, services and progress. The ability to lead, motivate and inspire a team to achieve defined goals and objectives, with alignment to organisational values, community needs and statutory requirements. High level oral and written communication skills, excellent negotiation, conflict resolution and problem solving ability, whilst maintaining positive relationships at all times. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline is preferred. The role is offered as a 5 year contract & can be based in either Lameroo or Pinnaroo.
