About the Role The Director ICT Operations will be responsible for ensuring the reliable and efficient functioning of the Commissions digital infrastructure and systems through best practices in monitoring, maintenance, and incident management. Additionally, they will be involved in managing and optimising the procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management of digital assets and resources essential for the Commissions operations by maintaining accurate inventories, tracking usage, and optimising asset utilisation. 
The key duties of the position include:Infrastructure Management: Oversee the management and maintenance of the Commissions ICT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and data centres. Ensure the reliable and efficient operation of infrastructure components to support the delivery of ICT services to users. System Administration: Manage the configuration, deployment, and administration of ICT systems and applications used by the Commission. Ensure systems are properly configured, patched, and updated to maintain security and compliance with regulatory requirements. Performance Optimisation: Identify opportunities to optimise the performance and efficiency of ICT infrastructure and systems. Implement monitoring tools and performance metrics to identify bottlenecks, optimise resource utilisation, and improve overall system performance. Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors who provide cloud or external services to the Commission. Ensure vendors meet service level agreements (SLAs) and deliver high-quality services that meet the Commissions requirements and expectations. Incident Response and Problem Management: Lead the response to ICT incidents and problems, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations. Develop and implement incident response plans and procedures to address incidents effectively and restore service quickly. Continuity Planning: Develop and maintain ICT continuity and disaster recovery plans to ensure the resilience and availability of critical systems and services in the event of disruptions or disasters. To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
Extensive experience (typically 7+ years) in ICT operations, infrastructure management, and security management within large, complex organisations, preferably in the public sector. Strong understanding of ICT infrastructure components, including networks, servers, storage, and data centres, and their role in supporting business operations. Proven track record of successfully managing vendors and external service providers to deliver high-quality services and meet SLAs. Excellent knowledge of ICT security principles, practices, and technologies. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage ICT operations teams, including setting priorities, allocating resources, and driving performance improvement initiatives. Relevant tertiary qualifications in information technology, computer science, or a related field. Additional certifications in ICT operations, security management, or project management are highly desirable. NotesSalary offered will be between $136,307 - $161,381 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid and hybrid working arrangements are available.An ongoing position is available.Only candidates who hold Australian citizenship can apply.
