Our team The Geospatial Leadership team supports Geoscience Australia to be the national leader in government geospatial matters. This includes supporting the Chief of Division in the development of geospatial strategies, driving agendas at national and international fora, and coordinating across government and industry on geospatial matters. The team provides secretariat support a variety of geospatial committees, currently including the Spatial Information Council (ANZLIC), the Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping, and the Location Intergovernmental Committee. The team also supports Geoscience Australia's input into these and other committees, such as the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), through the development of papers and collation of responses. The key duties of the position include As the Director Geospatial Leadership, you will lead, manage, and mentor a small team responsible for geospatial governance, encompassing strategic planning, reporting and alignment to appropriate frameworks. This includes liaising with internal, external and international stakeholders across all levels of government and the geospatial industry. In this role you will develop a thorough understanding of the geospatial industry in Australia and internationally, through stakeholder engagement and research. You will advise Geoscience Australia's leadership team to achieve effectively governed geospatial fora and sound advocacy for geospatial matters both nationally and internationally. You will be required to routinely apply complex analytical skills, be able to effectively prioritise, have excellent time management and communicate compelling arguments verbally and in writing. Whilst it is a challenging role, the nation, organisational, professional and personal gains are great. In this role you will lead your team to: Provide effective and efficient secretariat services including, overseeing meeting logistics, the preparation and timely delivery of high-quality agendas, briefs, papers, and minutes. Facilitate input from internal and external stakeholders and track and manage action items. Manage, maintain and enhance governance frameworks to ensure clear roles and responsibilities, establishing structures and protocols that guide decision-making and accountability, while driving strategic alignment across different committees. Review, coordinate and communicate information to appropriate officials across stakeholders; establish priorities and manage competing deadlines. Oversee the continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the team to ensure efficiencies. To be successful in the role you will: Be a trusted adviser on governance and geospatial matters, having developed your experience and knowledge from holding a similar role. Have a proven record of achieving results, including at an organisation-wide level. Be a team player, working collaboratively across the organisation and with external stakeholders. Set the direction of the team and your own work priorities to ensure the provision of timely and accurate advice and play a role in coaching, guiding and developing employees. Be an effective communicator. Seek out and accept responsibility, be able to work independently and be outcomes orientated. Desired skills, knowledge, experience and/or qualifications Experience in leading a team responsible for similar functions. Experience in, or thorough knowledge of, the Australian and/or international geospatial industry. Are you unsure about applying?
