The Opportunity

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for a Parliamentary Executive Level 2 Director, Financial Systems within the Finance Branch.

The Finance Branch delivers financial capability for DPS, supporting the delivery of its strategic priorities by:

desiging, managing and supporting processes that are essential to effective financial management outcomes, and

providing financial analysis and insight to Senior Executives, managers and staff to help them with decisions as they also acheive their contribution to DPS strategic priorities.

Leading our Financial Systems capabilities, your role will help the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Assistant Secretary, Finance Branch to support DPS through the provision of services.

The Director, Financial Systems will lead a team to support and provide core transaction services to DPS consisting of establishment, payroll, workforce management and ERP Application Technical support.

Job Specific Requirements :

Previous Experience in SAP

The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

Duty Statement

Section: Financial Systems

Immediate supervisor: Assistant Secretary, Finance

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Executive Level 2 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Lead the Financial Systems section to develop and maintain the financial applications used to support the department's financial activities and performance.

Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that there are effective governance structures in place to support financial system activities.

Deliver professional and client-focused services to facilitate mutually beneficial outcomes for stakeholders and the department.

Manage the use of service providers, such as contractors and consultants, by promoting strategic alliances to ensure value for money and enhanced service delivery.

Support and promote DPS' strategic priorities and a culture of innovation.

Evaluate complex situations accurately and identify viable solutions that create successful outcomes for stakeholders and the department.

Contribute to the leadership of the Finance Branch and more broadly across the department.

Undertake other duties as directed.

Conditions of Employment

Employment opportunities at Department of Parliamentary Services are subject to a range of conditions prescribed in the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 which include:

Australian citizenship – to be eligible for employment with DPS, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.

Security clearance and character clearance – the preferred applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level specified, as well as complete and be deemed suitable through a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.

Health assessment – a pre-employment health assessment will be required where there are physical or medical requirements for the role.
