The Financial Services Branch, as part of Corporate Services Division, provides high quality advice and support to the Department of Justice and its stakeholders through effective budget management, quality assurance and compliance, meeting financial reporting obligations and ensuring strong governance and performance management frameworks.
As a senior leader of the Financial Services Branch, the Director Financial Operations is responsible for the provision of strategic leadership of the financial operations, reporting, taxation, transactional services, asset management and procurement functions within the Department.
The key responsibilities of the Director Financial Operations are to: Provide timely, independent and informed strategic and operational financial advice.Oversee the development of a strong client service focus in all activities, by establishing collaborative partnerships with departmental clients and stakeholders in the development and delivery of financial services.Provide expert advice and options on dealing with contemporary financial accounting issues to the Executive Director, Financial Services and Senior Managers to assist with the effective utilization of the Department's financial and physical resources.Liaise and negotiate with central agencies in the development of the Department's financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency with departmental and whole of government objectives.Lead the preparation of the Departments annual financial statements ensuring compliance with prescribed accounting standards and policies.Lead the design and maintenance of effective financial controls to enable the Chief Finance Officer to discharge their obligations under the Financial Accountability Act 2007.Negotiate and ensure the ongoing management of service level agreements with external agencies to achieve the optimal delivery of cost effective financial, banking and travel services.Represent the Department in significant forums related to financial management.Lead, develop and motivate the Financial Operations and Procurement teams in relation to work planning and review, process improvement, staff development, team management and communication to ensure the efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources.Job Ad Reference: QLD/613697/25 Closing Date: Friday, 24th January 2025 Occupational group: Accounting and Finance
