Looking to take the lead and make a difference for the WA community and environment? We are looking for a seasoned leader with an advanced scientific and a technical working knowledge of emerging scientific issues as they relate to environmental science disciplines at state, national and international levels. You will have extensive experience in and an understanding of the standards, legislation, policy and processes involved in environmental science including air quality assessment, contaminated sites management, environmental noise regulation and waste regulation.

Come and join us as the Director, Environmental Science in the Assurance Directorate within our Approvals Portfolio which is responsible for providing integrated and coordinated environmental approval services for Western Australia.
You will partner with the Executive Director Assurance to lead and manage the Environmental Science Division, delivering highly specialised environmental science disciplines and regulatory activities to achieve environmental and departmental outcomes.
The Assurance Directorate is responsible for; leading the Department through regulatory assurance activities by closing the regulatory cycle, anticipating and mitigating risks, utilising the best available intelligence and science to make informed decisions, embracing technology to focus on objectives and implementing best practice assurance, principles and processes and the provision of a low carbon Western Australia with a healthy environment and secure water resources for future generations. The Assurance Directorate consists of three functional areas, Environmental Science, Operational Assurance and Water Assurance.
The Director Environmental Science provides a leadership role both internally and across key stakeholder agencies, ensuring the development, assessment, and delivery of evidence-based and responsive applied science knowledge, technical advice, monitoring, and solutions enabling the Department to function as a world-class, science-based regulator.
