Our vision is to make Australia the best place in the world to do business - so that Australians have the jobs, living standards and opportunities to which they aspire.The PositionThe position leads ACCI's policy development and advocacy in key areas relating to employment and skills, including vocational education and training, and migration. The position also oversees the secretariat functions for Australian Chamber Tourism and ACCI's Small Business Committee. Responsibilities include analysing complex public policy issues, preparing submissions and other written material, drafting media statements, supporting members meetings, and engaging with stakeholders in Government and the business community.The incumbent will be expected to represent ACCI on key external advisory boards and committees. Currently this includes the Jobs and Skills Australia Advisory Board, the Manufacturing Skills Australia Board, and the ATO Small Business Stewardship Group.The position currently oversees one reporting member of staff.Key ResponsibilitiesResearch and analyse complex public policy issues, including evaluating relevant data.Prepare submissions, briefings, policy papers, media releases, articles and other written material.Independently, or as part of the team, communicate Australian Chamber policy positions in meetings with stakeholders.Develop and maintain networks with members, policy makers and other relevant stakeholders.Monitor relevant policy developments and identify opportunities and issues of relevance to ACCI's advocacy agenda.Oversee secretariat functions for relevant ACCI policy committees, principally, the Employment and Skills Policy Committee, Australian Chamber Tourism, and the Small Business Committee.Work collaboratively with other ACCI staff.Key Attributes and ExperiencePolicy Analysis : Ability to research and analyse complex public policy issues, including interpreting statistical information and reviewing relevant sources of information.Written Communication : Ability to prepare a variety of written material to a high standard, including submissions, briefings (both for members and internal) and media releases.Advocacy : Confidence and the ability to effectively advocate relevant policy positions to diverse audiences, including ACCI members, external stakeholders and the public.Networking : Strong networking and stakeholder engagement skills.Teamwork : Capacity to work cooperatively in a small team, including working on own initiative.Organisation: Ability to manage conflicting priorities within a dynamic environment, and to work under time pressure.Thought Leadership: Proven ability to think strategically and to seize opportunities with impact.Political Knowledge : Knowledge of parliamentary political, legislative and regulatory processes, with a strong understanding of key influencers in the portfolio area.Qualifications : Relevant tertiary qualifications at a graduate, or post graduate level.Business Perspective : An understanding of, and empathy for, the role and issues facing business.Benefits of working at ACCI:Peak representative association of Australian businessesContinuous professional developmentGreat Inner South locationAdditional Christmas LeaveTo Apply please submit the following documents to ****** :Cover Letter outlining your suitability to the role; andCVWe welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, LGBTIQA+ and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.Early applications are advised as ACCI reserves the right to close the vacancy early if suitable applications are received.For further information about the position contact David Alexander Chief of Policy and Advocacy: ****** for this role will close 5pm Wednesday, 24 April 2024.#J-18808-Ljbffr
