This means investing in talent, technologies, and tools that empower you to own your career.Join MUFG, where being inspired is expected and making a meaningful impact is rewarded.About the role:In your role as Director, you will be responsible for proactively identifying risk, setting and executing risk mitigation strategies for the Oceania (Australia/New Zealand) loan portfolio – both new loans at origination with heightened credit risk and existing stressed/distressed loans. The role will work in tandem with the existing Oceania client relationship teams. While the role will focus on risk in the Oceania loan portfolio, you will be part of the regional Credit Managed Assets team and support various regional risk projects and initiatives across APAC.You will support the APAC Head of the Credit Managed Assets team to develop a strong credit and risk control/culture within the Global Corporate and Investment Banking Division ("GCIB"). Partnering closely with colleagues across APAC in supporting GCIB to proactively manage key risk controls related to the business activities.You will report to Head of Credit Managed Assets (APAC).What you'll be doing:For new loans at origination with heightened credit risk, critically review borrower forecasts, consider client specific and sector risks, and challenge the appropriateness of covenants and other legal/structural protections to mitigate losses in downside scenarios, taking into account lessons learned from distressed loans.For existing stressed and distressed loans, formulate, negotiate and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies to maximize loan recoveries, including through refinancing, restructuring, rehabilitation or sale of loans or portfolios. The role will require close collaboration with existing relationship managers, as well as extensive negotiation with clients and legal and financial advisors.Monitor and review any Early Warnings Indicators (EWI) triggered for Oceania borrowers, working with relationship managers and credit partners to consider next steps for proactive credit risk mitigation actions and ongoing enhanced monitoring for borrowers with increasing credit risk.Review credit knowledge and assist with the training competencies of RMs in GCIB.Contribute to processes, policies and guidelines to mitigate any credit risk and align to the business strategy.Participate in relevant committees within the entity.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and limits.Maintain good working knowledge of global and regional industry trends, products, relevant laws and regulations.What we are looking for:10+ years of relevant experience in banking, advisory or corporate finance in managing stressed and distressed credit risk management and restructuring focused on the Oceania market.Undergraduate Business/Commerce/Law Degree from a leading university is essential.Demonstrable experience in excellent client coverage and leadership.Extensive market and industry knowledge including a strong understanding of the global banking regulatory environment and restructuring, enforcement and insolvency processes.Work out experience through one to two economic downturn cycles together with prior experience in financial analysis and modelling.Cross functional understanding of risk and controls (i.e. market, credit, finance, compliance, operations, legal, audit).Good communication skills with the ability to influence others.Strong stakeholder management skills to collaborate with other departments and across geographical locations.Strong leadership skills and ability to work under own initiative.Previous experience in a leadership role providing guidance and mentorship to a developing team.Our culture:MUFG fosters a highly professional, supportive work environment that enables our employees to help maximize our customers' prosperity.
