What you will do as the Director, Contract Market Monitoring:
Oversee scoping, requirements definition, quality control and delivery of IT enabled contract monitoring outputs – working as Product Owner along with AER IT partners.
Manage program workstream projects and resources to produce timely outcomes and ensure that management systems are accurate and up to date.
Support the branch's ongoing and developing capability to undertake market monitoring and analysis including through skills development and succession planning.
Maintain a strong relationship with the ACCC gas and electricity inquiry teams.
Make effective judgements under pressure to decide the right course of action in challenging and complex scenarios where information is not always complete.
About you:
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
Demonstrated understanding of the Australian electricity and gas markets; the role, purpose and objectives of the AER and the complex political and stakeholder environment within which the AER operates.
A sound and demonstrated understanding of contract and financial markets and how these are used in relation to energy markets.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in leading, developing and implementing monitoring, surveillance and analytical processes and capability, or relevant experience in implementing policy or regulatory reform.
High level experience in designing measures and models with a strong aptitude for risk management and governance.
Leadership experience with a team of professionals, supporting a professional and collaborative working environment, coaching, giving continuous feedback, resolving conflict and facilitating career development.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in law; economics / commerce; data analytics; public policy; or related fields.
