The role is responsible for developing ARPANSA's brand, media engagement and communications strategies and providing expert advice to the Executive Group and staff to promote best practice communication and engagement.The role is an important agency wide leadership position and is critical to building capability to embed stakeholder engagement and communications skills throughout the agency. Key accountabilities Plan, manage and lead the Communications team to identify reputational risk and developing communication strategies to effectively manage risks across the division and business areasProvide expert media, issues and reputation management advice to senior management and staff across strategic and operational issues Provide strategic advice and problem solving for complex media management issues, and support the Communications team to navigate and respond appropriately Provide strategic advice to internal clients to develop and implement communication strategies and activitiesOversee the development of policies and procedures concerning ARPANSA staff interactions with the media, consistent delivery of ARPANSA's brand and other communications functions Manage issues and risks in the social media environment. Job specific capabilitiesTo be considered for this position, you will ideally have had experience in similar roles and specifically have demonstrated skills in media management, communication strategy development, and strategic stakeholder engagement. You will have excellent skills in leadership, media relations, developing and implementing communication strategies and campaigns, and internal and external stakeholder engagement.You will be experienced in coaching and managing a small team and possess highly developed communication skills along with the ability to identify relevant emerging issues and respond in a positive and proactive manner. You must hold Australian citizenship or possess permanent residency status leading to citizenship and be prepared to travel interstate from time to time as required.
