Director, Communications and Engagement, ALRC - Executive Level 2Our Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver the ALRC's communications and engagement as we grow and engage with broader and diverse audiences. Together with the executive and legal teams, the Director will be responsible for designing and implementing the ALRC's communications strategy to position the ALRC as a centre of excellence and the leading Australian agency for law reform.
The Director will be part of the leadership team and play a critical role in effectively communicating the work of the ALRC to organisational and inquiry-specific stakeholders and the broader community, including through media releases and media engagement, the ALRC website, social media channels, ALRC events, and the development of inquiry-specific communications products. A key component of the role will be working closely with the legal teams to translate complex legal ideas into easily understood and engaging content that can be used in a range of forums.

Specific requirements of the role: Experience developing and implementing professional and innovative communications strategies that reflect the organisation's purpose and take account of multiple and diverse audiences;Proficiency with media management including providing advice on strategic media engagement and relations;Strong website creation and social media content generation skills and experience providing data and evidence-based communications advice;Experience with Plain English, typesetting, document design, graphics, video production and publishing tools;Ability to produce clear, concise, well-presented and audience-specific written and audio-visual material;Experience with creating and implementing events (on-line and in-person);Commitment to innovation, teamwork, collaboration and excellence in products.The range and nature of work within the ALRC requires a workforce that reflects our diverse society and the department provides a number of support mechanisms for employees.
