The Suburban Land Agency is currently recruiting a Director for its Commercial Ventures team, within the Place Delivery branch.
As a Director, you will be a highly motivated and outcomes-focused leader with a proven ability to manage the establishment of a Framework for the establishment of development partnerships.
You should have commercial experience working in the land development industry and be familiar with complex land development projects from feasibility/acquisition, planning to implementation, and be committed to engaging with community and stakeholder groups.
You should be innovative and able to achieve results.
The position requires a person with effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills who will be able to support the Program Director and other team members to establish SLA as an organization that partners with industry to develop great places where communities thrive.
Reporting to the Program Director – Commercial Ventures, the Director role will be critical in supporting the accelerated establishment of a commercial framework to assess opportunities for commercial arrangements on existing and new land development and built form projects.
The role will utilize your experience and expertise in land development to structure commercial arrangements and determine the advantages and disadvantages of commercial arrangements (e.g., joint ventures, partnerships, PPPs, englobo releases) compared to the SLA delivery of projects, balancing financial, governance, environmental, and social outcomes.
Working under the broad direction of the Program Director, the responsibilities of the role may include a combination of any of the following:
Supporting the establishment of an effective framework for promptly assessing commercial venture opportunities (including joint ventures, joint operations, PPPs, partnerships, and other commercial arrangements) to achieve the best outcome for SLA and the broader Government.Working collaboratively with project teams within the Place Delivery Group and other areas within SLA to assess projects against an established commercial venture framework, considering financial, land supply, environmental, and social returns.Assisting with the establishment of structures, networks, policies, and other means to facilitate effective knowledge and information sharing between commercial ventures and SLA projects.Supporting the oversight of joint venture arrangements and representing SLA in its role as a participant.Providing advice and support to joint venture board members and other SLA/Territory representatives relating to commercial arrangements.Provision of advice on commercial ventures, land development, and projects to the SLA Board, the Chief Executive Officer, Executives, and key government and non-government stakeholders.Supporting the oversight of commercial venture delivery of the Government's Indicative Land Release Program and SLA Budget, ensuring effective risk management frameworks are developed and maintained.Representing the Agency at meetings with statutory authorities and other Government agencies, private enterprises, and community groups, including public meetings.Supporting the team with procurement and recruitment of external and internal resources to support the team's functions.Other duties as required.We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experiences, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community.
