About the Role Reporting to the Executive Director, Budget Strategy and Portfolio Assurance, this role will be required to lead the identification, development and delivery of revenue generating opportunities and deliver effective and efficient contract management of existing (roadside advertising) and new commercial revenue contracts.
The Director, Commercial Revenue will work closely with stakeholders within and external to the Department of Transport and Planning to identify and deliver potential revenue streams in line with Government priorities, including social procurement outcomes. The successful candidate will lead development of relevant policy and transaction activities required to deliver the identified revenue generating opportunities and to drive informed decisions from government.
The role will be accountable for leading project management (design and delivery), obtaining key approvals (policy and project), ensuring probity of procurement activities, directing due diligence activities and aligning communications and engagement across key stakeholders. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in providing senior stakeholders with high quality advice and leading highly functioning teams to drive transport outcomes, designing procurement processes and contract management.
The position will lead a standalone team within Budget Strategy and Portfolio Assurance to deliver new revenue contracts, gaining the support of internal stakeholders and complying with relevant policies and legislation.
Position Outcomes
The Director, Commercial Revenue is pivotal in driving revenue by developing and implementing innovative strategies to commercialise DTP assets. This involves collaborating with senior leadership to integrate these strategies with the department's strategic vision and priority deliverables focused on revenue generation. Leadership is a key aspect, with a focus on improving team performance and promoting a diverse, inclusive culture aligned with departmental values.
The Director offers strategic and operational advice to ministers, the Secretary, and executive leaders to support transport objectives and address complex issues. Stakeholder management is crucial, effectively engaging key internal and external stakeholders and leading partnerships across government and the private sector to coordinate policy and revenue delivery. In contract management, the Director oversees continuous improvement through robust monitoring and reporting, negotiating outcomes that foster positive, long-term relationships with the private market and benefit the department.
Qualifications and role specific requirements Mandatory At least five years of professional experience in a relevant commercial transaction setting Experience working with State or Federal Government A relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, finance, economics, business management, law, or related discipline.
