Your new opportunityJoin us in a role where you'll be responsible for the strategic leadership and performance of a specialist team in the Queensland Government Insurance Fund (QGIF).
You will manage a significant claims budget and ensure the cost-effective implementation and management of QGIF claims.
This role is critical in fostering effective relationships with Agency clients and will require oversight of departmental resources and external service providers.In this rewarding leadership role, you will initially focus on managing a team dedicated to addressing historical child abuse claims, with the potential opportunity to demonstrate and broaden your expertise across an array of general and health claims in the future.In this role, you will:
Lead the delivery of QGIF claims within required budget and performance standards, including:Provide professional leadership by building and maintaining a positive and inclusive culture, with focus on customer service, continuous improvement, and best practice.Provide leadership on appropriate dispute resolution processes to address concerns raised by agencies and other key stakeholders about the management of claims and prepare monthly reports on the status and outcome of disputes.Act as a change agent, continually seeking ways to improve QGIF claims service and performance outcomes by:Working collaboratively with the Leadership Team to identify and implement enhancements for claims management service delivery and positively supporting claims system enhancements and taking the team on the journey to embed change.Provide key relationship management of critical client relationships with Crown Law (and Department of Justice & Attorney General) as a key service provider and business partner to QGIF.Provide oversight of monitoring processes for the performance of external service providers in accordance with contractual requirements and prepare regular reports concerning performance issues, recommending action to address non-performance or poor performance.Provide critical advice and recommendations to the General Manager and QGIF Governance Committee on significant claims matters and the assessment and determination of appropriate claims provisions having regard to actuarial reports.Ensure claims performance within approved delegations for the Claims Team and service providers and recommend amendments to delegations where necessary and appropriate.Work collaboratively with the QGIF Underwriting Team in the provision of claims information to support re-insurance considerations, having regard to actuarial reports.What experience you will bring:
Insurance industry experience across a wide range of insurance products.Understanding of current best practice claims management principles.Excellent communication skills to be able to manage the organisation's diverse range of stakeholders.Understanding of the impacts of machinery of government changes to the organisation.Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.How to apply
