An exciting opportunity for a dedicated, committed professional to lead, develop and shape the commercial arrangements and ongoing management for a new MSQ facility in regional Queensland.
The Director plays a critical role in the successful establishment, and ongoing operations of a new skills and training facility to be opened in Maryborough in 2025.What you will doThe pivotal senior leadership role reports directly to the Chief Executive (CEO) and is responsible for providing operational leadership of the planning, establishment, and day-to-day management of the facility, ensuring delivery of services to support the growing manufacturing sector in Queensland.
This position requires a seasoned leader with extensive experience in operational, commercial, and project management.
The key duties and responsibilities of this role include:Facility management - develop and implement operational plans, associated governance, policies, procedures and working practices; assume day to day facility management once opened; and investigate and develop commercial opportunities.Stakeholder engagement - identify, build, and facilitate strong and effective relationships and collaboration opportunities with key external stakeholders including government, education providers, businesses and associations.Leadership - strategic positioning of the organisation; contribute to the development and effective delivery of the organisations strategic and business objectives and ongoing program of work; and provide exceptional leadership to a high performing team.Who we are looking forFor this role, we will consider how well you demonstrate the capabilities critical to the performance of an executive leader, focusing on:Extensive experience in managing commercial operations, preferably with a training and/or industry development focus.
Knowledge of the training and VET sector is highly advantageous.Proven experience in senior program delivery, and commercial management roles, and experience working across Government and the manufacturing industry is highly desirable.Credible authority with proven experience in commercial or relevant industry sector roles leading complex commercial activities with a track record of delivering projects within an agreed budget, schedule, and scope in compliance with design requirements and construction and production standards.High-level strategic planning capability with demonstrated ability to operationalise strategy through communication, negotiation and teamwork.Interpersonal and communication skillsExemplary interpersonal and verbal communication skills with a strong and proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships, and strong ability to influence and negotiate outcomes effectively.Demonstrated track record of building productive and purposeful partnerships with a positive attitude, and flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the business.What we doManufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) is an independent, not-for-profit industry body established by the Queensland Government.
