About the role The Director, Careers and Pathways Programs provides strategic leadership in the design and delivery of adult and secondary student strategies and programs to support workforce participation and pathways into education, employment, and training.
The role drives quality, growth, and reform of career learning and pathways for secondary students, mandatory work placements, and strengthening vocational pathways from school to tertiary education to employment, ensuring programs are compliant with mandatory national and state standards, future-focused, and responsive to educational, social, and technological developments to prepare students to realise their full potential.
The role also has responsibility for oversight of key strategic reform programs and initiatives that deliver the pathways stream for the Plan for Public Education.
About you Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of careers programs and pathways in the NSW school system coupled with a strong capability driving reform, building strong team cultures, and driving high-quality outcomes for NSW students.
As a leader, you will join an executive team focused on driving improved ways of working to deliver meaningful and long-lasting impact.
To be successful in this role, you will have: Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, demonstrated by a track record of building partnerships and engaging with diverse stakeholders.The ability to build a positive culture and collaborative working relationships is essential, together with a customer-centric focus.Demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level in the management of a large, complex organisation.Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as policy, education, business, management, social sciences, or communications, and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number.
